THE DOMESTIC CHURCH

“Parents have the first responsibility for the education of their children. They bear witness to this responsibility first by creating a home where tenderness, forgiveness, respect, fidelity, and disinterested service are the rule.

The home is well suited for education in the virtues. This requires an apprenticeship in self-denial, sound judgment, and self-mastery - the preconditions of all true freedom. Parents should teach their children to subordinate the "material and instinctual dimensions to interior and spiritual ones." Parents have a grave responsibility to give good example to their children. By knowing how to acknowledge their own failings to their children, parents will be better able to guide and correct them”

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION K-6

Our Divine Savior's Family Faith Formation is designed to support parents as the primary educators of the faith. Our Faith Formation program for K - 6th graders helps supplement parents in their teaching of the Catholic faith to their children as well as helping children form a community of faith among their peers. A new primarily online platform for family faith formation will begin in late September. Registration is now open. Click on the link below.

Our new online learning platform is from Faith and Family Life Catholic Ministries. They create and provide innovative and relevant resources to assist families in making the home the cornerstone for faith sharing and development. Their goal is to support and train parents in their role as the primary educators of the faith.

Registration for Family Faith Formation is now open!

A Faith Response to the Coronavirus

Now more then ever is the time to pray and lean on our faith for guidance, strength, and support. Our country's ever changing concerns for spread of the novel Coronavirus leaves many facing challenges.

Perhaps your family is facing challenges and you need support. Be assured your Parish community is praying for you daily. The staff meets daily to pray for the needs of our Parish members. Let us know how we can more specifically pray for you here by filling out this prayer request. The words “Be Not Afraid” are written 365 times in the Bible. That’s one for every day of the year. The fact that God has reminded us continuously throughout Sacred Scripture to have no fear and trust in Him brings great comfort to us.

Many of Our Divine Savior's parishioners are unable to attend Mass and their regular ministry gatherings for health reasons. A majority of those staying away to protect themselves and others are alone and now isolated. Isolation can lead to additional health concerns and complications. We are the body of Christ and as such are called by our faith to help one another. Do not be frozen in fear. Reach out in ways that are possible to help each other as you can. This is a great time for a teachable moment and to put our faith in action.
