First Holy Communion

Preparing for Sacraments is a journey of faith for the student as well as the family. The Diocese of Sacramento requires 2 years of preparation to receive Sacraments.
FOUNDATION YEAR
Families who wish to prepare their children to receive the Eucharist and celebrate first holy communion must successfully complete a foundation year of faith formation and regular participation in the Mass. Families unable to participate regularly in faith formation, and struggle to attend Mass regularly, will be invited to repeat their foundation year before moving on to prepare for first holy communion.
In order to make a proper confession, children are taught the Ten Commandments to give them a basic understanding of God's Law. Before receiving the Sacrament, children are taught how to make a good examination of conscience.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION PREPARATION
Families preparing for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion will meet weekly on Sunday mornings. Regular attendance at Parent Meetings is required for participating families as well.
Register for First Holy Communion Preparation by completing the Family Faith Formation Registration Form which is available after Mass or in the office. Families must also attend a brief interview/meeting prior to attending the first class in September.
