Meaningful experiences that help children and their parents understand, prepare for, and celebrate the Sacraments.
Preparing for Sacraments is a journey of faith for the student as well as the family. The Diocese of Sacramento requires 2 years of preparation to receive Sacraments.
As part of their preparation for their First Reconciliation children are taught the basic prayers of the Church, The Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be and the Act of Contrition.
In order to make a proper confession, children are taught the Ten Commandments to give them a basic understanding of God's Law. Before receiving the Sacrament, children are taught how to make a good examination of conscience.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
As part of preparation to receive their First Communion, children begin by establishing regular habits of attending Mass every Sunday and Religious education classes. Children are taught about the True Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist and as well as parts of the mass, and how to properly receive the Sacrament.
FIRST SACRAMENTS PREPARATION
Families preparing for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion will utilize at home family meeting style curriculum from Faith and Family Life Catholic Ministries. This fun and meaningful formation is something the entire family can participate in. The lessons are simple and relevant, easy to use and help the entire family connect more with their faith. Students and parents will meet monthly on the 2nd Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 for additional follow up and fellowship with their class.
